I Bought This Truck Today.

2006 Ram "1500" Laramie Mega Cab 4WD

Apparently this was offered from 2006-2008. Called a "1500", the truck has the 2500 frame and 8 lug axles with 1500 springs to ride better. This one is 4WD and therefore has the 2500 solid front axle.

The truck is in excellent 2 owner shape. The downside is the clear on the paint has failed in a couple of spots.

LOADED with all the standard Ram Laramie stuff plus leather, power seats, glass slider roof, heated seats, rear slider, adjustable pedals and a very nice LEER topper! Nice aftermarket wheels with as new TOYO 35's. Interior is superb.

Anyone else have one of these unique Ram 1500 Mega Cab trucks?

WOW, a great looking truck 😍 , and very interest as to the 1500 -- 2500 connection.

Question (from the linked article)
"Dodge Trucks engineers re-proportioned the cab and the pickup box by replacing the 8-foot box with a short box (6-foot, 3-inch). This allowed Dodge designers an
additional 20-inches of cabin space to play with."

What happened to the 'extra 20 inches of cab length'? Is is all behind the rear seats so they can "tilting back from a 22- to 37-degree seatback"

We also have a 2008 RAM HEMI Crew Cab Short bed truck and there is a HUGE difference in leg room between the Crew Cab and the Mega Cab. The doors on the Mega Cab are much longer than the short doors on the Crew Cab.

The Mega Cab seats also fold flat for cargo and there are dedicated storage compartments behind the rear seats. There is another 10-12 inches behind the rear seat that is not there on the Crew Cab. NONE of this is in the Crew Cab truck.

Probably!

I guess it's nostalgia time.

Here is a pic my 1995 Centurion F350 I bought new and had for almost 30 years. I sold it last December 2023!

Also attached is another project Dodge I bought earlier this year that I was going to build and might go ahead and sell now that I bought the Mega Cab. It's a 1996 Ram 3500 CREW CAB Cummins Diesel 5 Speed built when new by Custom Conversions in Cleburne TX. Dodge/Ram did not build Crew Cabs from 1985-2002. That's where the aftermarket filled the need.

The megacab is a nice truck, but I'd keep that crew cab dually! What a neat unique truck!

That 1996 Dodge Crew Cab is neat and it is ROUGH! Needs a lot of work. Not sure I want to dedicate the time to fixing it when I have other stuff that is neater to fix.

It took 10 years to buy that 1996 Crew Cab from the 2nd owner who bought it in 1997. His "Mexicans" were not kind to the truck in the later years!
