Bouncy Seats...

are awesome! I took my Monty on a 600 mile round trip yesterday for work & I used my bouncy seat for the 1st time. I keep forgetting I have it but yesterday I was going down an old section of Hwy that was real rough & thought I need to release the bouncy seat lever to see if it really does anything. It works awesome once its dialed in. How did I ever drive without a bouncy seat!?! I love my Monty! :ylsmoke:

This sounds really interesting. What is a "bouncy seat"? All I know if is the things they put toddlers in to keep them busy.

The BoUnCy SeAt is a spring-damped, load adjustable seat base that fortunate Montero owners can equip their vehicles with. I have installed them in my home fleet of Monteros and 1 Raider. I have acquired one Gen II bouncy seat base and passed it along to another user, as I generally stick to the Gen I ilk.

Imagine those semi or bus driver seats in operation and you'll get the right idea. They work excellent off road and can be adjusted depending on your weight. They really work well...

The seat bases occur in wrecking yards from time to time. I buy nearly all the ones I find, if I have $$. They work in vehicles with a flat floor and enough head space.

So what has the bouncy seat? what do I pull it out of to install in my Gen II? Ray, is there something on 4x4wire that explains this? Lemmie go look....

Gen II bouncy frames exist, but they are rare in the yards during my travels.

Gen 1 & 2's have bouncy seat bases. Essentially bases with a spring suspension built into them. More common in the gen 1's though. Prices range from $25-100 from what I've seen plus shipping.

None of the later Gen 2's have them from what I've seen. Just the earlier gen 2's.
