Box Rocket 1995 FZJ80 Build

I like the new color. Bronze is very "in" right now.

If you can't stand it, try checking out Eastwood's color selection. Maybe more of an aluminum spray or even cast iron would look cool too.

As a birthday gift, I got my brother-in-law a set of 3D-printed "TRAIL" badges for his 5th get 4R. They were printed in stainless steel and were almost that exact color.

I personally think the wheels look pretty cool, definitely unique.

Dusty stainless steel. :)
That's more what I was going for but not as "warm". Oh well. I'm sure they'll get redone again after they get scratched up. A lot of people think I should have kept them black but everyone runs black wheels. I like black, but change is needed sometimes.

Contrast is good sometimes. And next time maybe you want to blend in. :)

Spent a long weekend last week in St George, Utah with family. I had my wife and kids along with two of my wife's sisters and their families who are getting into Cruisers and offroad stuff. One family has a nicely built LX470 and the other has a stock FJ Cruiser. Woody from IH8MUD had been telling us about the Sand Hollow/Sand Mountain area near St George for a while and we wanted to check it out and finally made the trip. What a cool place! Really fun trails and a variety of terrain, although mostly sandstone and sand.
.
We ran the West Rim trail along with a few parts of Renegade on the first day. The second day we hit Triple 7's, Milt's Mile and a little bit of TNT. All of these trails were pretty challenging for the stock FJ and he was dragging bottom a lot but made it through almost everything with a little effort. Looking forward to going back and seeing more of the area.

Here's some pics.

This was a fun optional line.

This got a little tight. I scraped mirrors, so did the FJ. The LX took the bypass which was a pretty good ledge that we ended up having to winch him up.

I wasn't expecting the amount of sand we encountered on the trails. My BIL with the FJ has a son who came for day 2 with his Rubicon. The jeep is still stock and did well but needed more clearance.

this part of Triple 7's was quite challenging, mainly because of the soft sand and a 3' ledge all on a steep climb. I was the only one to get up this climb.

Few minor scrapes. As most of you know my flares/mirrors are plasti-dipped. Makes it easy to repair things like this. Come home, peel it off and respray it for a like-new look. Easy-peasy.

My MTR's have been through a lot since I got them. I've got side wall splits, some tread chunking but they've never lost air and still do great. Been a fantastic tire for the punishment I give them.

Thanks for the write up on that trip. I love that area and nothing better than seeing a properly equipped rig to explore it. The Australian front plate keeps throwing me though! ;)

The AUS plate is the constant reminder I need to keep my priorities straight in planning to get back to Australia. :)

At least the red dirt in UT is a constant reminder. And you should be used to sand if you know Oz. Ha! That's all I remember from my moto trip there in 2008.

The wheels look more silver against all that red rock, but when you show the scrapes on the flares they look bronze again (against asphalt)
Great looking truck.
