Brake upgrades

I finally have a date for my build in the second week of October, so will be driving out to Hallmark and Bowens in CO from Cali and taking the slow roads home to finally get a sense of liveaboard life.

The last thing I'm wondering about upgrading to handle the extra 2500 lbs is the brakes. What upgrades and benefits has anyone done? I hear that the Performance Friction pads are great, but also hear good things about the full PowerStop kits, any experience or thoughts?

From his build thread, an F350. I’d think stock brakes would be just fine. Maybe some Hawk LTS pads, if he wants to “upgrade.”

A new 6.2 Superduty?

Agreed. No upgrades needed.
We haul a 3000lb (wet) camper with a 2011 superduty and stock brakes are still more than adequate. 👍

You may, however need to do upgrades to carry the weight a bit better than stock. Bags, add-a-leaf, custom leaf pack, etc.

I think you'll be fine. Loaded we are carrying 3000lbs. Our '19 F250 brakes have been fantastic. Our trucks have massive brakes. It's something I really appreciate after almost 20 years of driving Toyotas 🤣

I'd make sure they are maintained well and otherwise don't worry about it. Use engine braking as much as you can for long downhills. For maintenance the basics would be a fluid flush with high quality dot 4 or better every year, and replace the pads well before they run out of material. These are study trucks and you can pretty much assume everything is opposite a taco :)
