Bronco Family Cage Planning

I'm getting a few estimates for a family style cage for the Bronco that will let me remove the rear fiberglass roof for summer, but retain the 3-point belts for the rear seat passengers. I'll have the cage guy weld on tabs for tie downs here and there, but I was also thinking of building a rear deck for organization and somewhat secure storage. I've seen this stuff, but now I can't find any pics that will help. So. . . Help! Pics? Suggestions? Make sure he includes _____?

Thanks in advance.

If you are keeping the stock swing-a-way tire carrier make sure that he ties the backside of the hinges into the cage.

A lot of tubing up in the "Halo"seems to be fashionable, but is just extra weight. A diagonal, or at most, an 'X' is enough.

Pay particular attention to not having a bunch of bends in the A pillar legs, and that the base of those tubes is well clear of your feet when getting in or out. The best, and most time consuming, cages go through the dash, not around it.

I built a cage for a guy from FSB a few years ago, he wanted something complete because he took his young daughters with him when he went off roading. on one of his first trips out the worst happened and he rolled it down a hill about 250 feet with his family inside.

because he grabbed the outside of the cage in a panic he lost the tips of two of his fingers. i got a very nice letter from him and his family thanking me for building them a cage that saved their lives. His Bronco was totaled but everyone walked away.

It doesnt matter who does it, it matters that it is done correctly. please dont go solely based on price, you and your family cannot replace you for a few hundred dollars you might "save".

The author of the rover-to-Canada trip report in OJ mentioned in the article a 3 level storage system in the back of his Series. Is he on the board, or does he have a website?

I'm thinking of a basket or shelf mounted to the cage at tailgate height that would provide storage underneath, secure from eyes if not from everything else, like the ubiquitous Jeep racks that you see everywhere.
