Bronco Wildtrak

I suppose I’ll start a thread. I had intended on getting a Big Bend or Black Diamond Bronco with Sasquatch. I wouldn’t say I needed Sasquatch but I would have never been satisfied with a stock Bronco and I would have gone years before doing anything about it. So, starting with the Sasquatch package just about takes care of anything I would want. I talked my wife into going to look at Broncos to get her approval with the intent of ordering and waiting it out. Ultimately I wanted to test drive a Sasquatch with 2.3 manual, 2.3 auto, and 2.7. My wife fell for the Wildtrak interior and cactus gray exterior. Following the test drive she already felt like the Bronco was ours and I wasn’t going to argue.

There won’t be a whole lot of building to it but I am working on a few mods. Right away I found a good deal on basically unused factory roof rack from marketplace to haul kayaks, bikes, camping gear, etc. I ordered a Bronco cargo mat and bimini top using Ford pass points that should be here soon. Other things I’ll add are cargo mats for the back of the seats and factory tow hitch/wiring. Other than that it’s just going to get used. If I think I need it I’ll look into rock jock stabilizer bars or find a Badlands stabilizer bar and wire it to an aux switch. I’ll do the Offrodeo soon and pick a Wildtrak to see how I feel about the stock Wildtrak on rocks. As is it feels great on the road with the Hoss 3.0 suspension.

I traded my bought new 2014 Ram 1500 so it will have to take over most of where the truck left off. I’ve been wanting to condense camping equipment so now will be the time. For larger trips we have an Fx4 Expedition Max, which has a crazy amount of cargo space.

I look forward to the adventures with this Bronco and plan to keep it as long as it is able to operate on the road, who knows what things will be like 10-20 years from now. I’ll share things I add and photos of the trips we take it on over time.

We had a Wildtrack at the offroadeo, it seemed to do fine stock.

I was kind of surprised it didn't have rock rails like our Black Diamond. If I had one I would either snag some takeoffs or look into regular sliders. Good insurance to have and really that bottom seam looks kind of unfinished otherwise.

Nice, ya'll got some good pictures. From the looks of your photos that Wildtrak still had the HOSS 2.0 suspension. The HOSS 3.0 with the Fox shocks are really smooth. I feel almost nothing on the road. I've hit a pothole or two and instinctively braced for impact but the Bronco just glides right over. The Black Diamond and Badlands are marketed as the versions to hit rocky trails so they come standard with the rock rails and more skid plates. The Wildtrak was kinda the pre Raptor, although I think the 3.0 may have showed up a little late to have much time to shine. Or maybe it's just a more affordable option compared to the Raptor. I prefer the looks of the standard Broncos to the Raptor with it's massive fenders and flares. I definitely plan on rails but I'm not sure which route I'll take yet and I only want to do it once. I've found a few take factory take offs in my area ranging from $50 to $150 that came off at low miles. There's a guy that's got the factory rails and IAG full length steps that attach to the rails I could get for a good price, but I'm not sure I want to go that route (hopefully that doesn't spark someone to search it out, that happened to me before but on a bike that was smaller than what I was looking for anyway). I'd rather get a good slider with full length steps but they get pretty pricey. I'm keeping my eye out for a fuel tank skid as well. Hopefully I can get to the Off-Roadeo soon and see how much I need to worry about scraping. It's nice to have the ability to do a trial run before beating up your own vehicle too much. After that I'll start hitting up the Hiddenfalls off road park for some fun. I've wheeled plenty of square body Chevy pickups, K5s, SFA Dodges, and a modded out XJ but they all had more or different clearances, or they were at the very least $3,500 to $10k trucks and not a brand new 2024 Bronco so I was less worried about the scars.

Thanks! I got my parts from Ford Accessories pretty quick despite some of the horror stories I had read. I had ordered on a Friday and they were ready for pickup at a local dealer by Tuesday. Hopefully we get our Expedition back from the body shop soon (long story) it's been raining a lot lately so I can't have the roof off our only vehicle. Once we get that back the roof is coming off and the bimini is going on. I did have the doors off for a couple days before more rain started which was a lot of fun. I'm currently coming up with plans in my head to build something to hang the roof from the sealing or have a stand to hold it in the corner of the garage.

There will be more photos to follow for sure.

Yeah, I know why the Wildtrack doesn't have them. I picked the Wildtrack because it was the closest to our BD not having the sway bar disconnect.

Then we get to the first obstacle getting the instructions and whatnot... I look back and remember "Oh crap, there is nothing to prevent us from caving in the rockers on this thing!"

I didn't really notice anything about the suspension as far as handling goes, the first thing we did was put it in low range and the last thing we did was put it in high range. When we got in it the range estimator thing on the dash with a full tank was saying 80 miles to E, its pretty much all slow going. I really don't have any complaints about our BD on the road.
