Overdue update...
Some of you may have already seen this on the FS forum. Sadly, I only get to keep one truck. The Jeep, T100, and Dodge/FP are all for sale. I get to keep whatever does not sell. So far, nothing is selling. Secretly, I hope to sell the T100 and CJ and keep the Dodge/FP. Here are some updated pictures. Although I am trying to sell everything, I will continue to improve the CTD/FP and report what I am doing here... Just don't tell my wife. I should be working on the flooring in the house.
Here is an action shot or two of my camping trip last weekend to the Carmel Valley:
Covered the mattress with a fitted flannel sheet. Much better. Thick foam makes for good sleeping...
With the carpet kit installed, the bed become a very cozy place. Just ask LadyBug...
Packed for last weekend's trip. Crappy first image but you can see that I brought along part of the lower bed and stowed the cooler, shower, food and clothes under it just behind the cab. Keeps things outta the way, but makes things hard to get to from outside the truck:
Without everything stowed under the settee, things can get outta hand:
There is some nice storage space under the benches, but I will have to build some dividers to keep things from rolling around so much:
Still looking for a smokin' deal on four tires or two Yok Geolander ATS's (265/75-R16). Front yoks are good:
The rear tires are awful... I'm ashamed to admit I am still driving on them. As I said in my FS post, they thrum so loudly, I cannot hear the sweet tune of the Cummins TD...

To check the silicon seal around the arms of the torsion bar the lid has to be opened.
The weight of the lid is then pulling down on the seal and at that point you may see a gap between the silicon and the fiberglass. Just fill the gap with silicon and let it set up before closing.
When the lid is closed you won't see a gap as the silicon is being compressed around the arm.
Pretty cool....looks like you did great. I'm not usually the pickup truck kinda of guy (I like smaller stuff like XJs) but this makes me think on it a bit. Be following how this works out. How did you get the musty mildew smell out?:coffeedrink:

I opened everything up and let it sit in the sun. The smell was more like smoke. It had been stored in a garage where the homeowner went to smoke. So, I was in a smoky environment. A few days in the sune and everything smelled fine. There is a stain in the L/F corner. Looks like it mildew but does not smell. I will get around to cleaning that up soon...
Yeah. Dogs know. Just gotta convince the wife.

So, I gather you are talking about the seal in the base, rather than the lid, as being most likely to fail. Is that correct?

I have solved many problems like stains and smells w/ a strong mix of Tide and warm water w/ a medium stiff brush and a wet/dry vac followed w/ sun dry. Something about tide seems to cut thru stains and smells....needs to be at least twice the normal strength tho!:coffeedrink:
