Budget 2000w Generators?

I need a 2000w Generator but I don’t need one bad enough to spend $1,000 for the Honda. I see there’s a decent selection of $500 sets from harbor freight and generac to name a few. Any recommendations for any of these $500 units? I’ll be using it to run a van heater in the winter until I get a diesel espar and to see if we need a generator going forward and how it fits into our lifestyle. We’re still trying to figure out if we want to to deal with a generator but don’t feel like spending $1000 to find out.

Amazon has the Generac 2200i on for $502 in the US.

I would not try to save any more money and spend less on rando brands.

Honda > Yahama > Generac Those are the three I would go with.

Is there another brand that should be in there I'm not aware of?

We got a CAT 2,000-watt inverter generator for about $500 or so, and it's been working well for us...

Harbor Freight generators work great. If you get one with the 6.5 hp motor its a Honda clone and all the parts are cheap and interchangeable.

If you're patient, you can find Honda EU2000's on Craigslist pretty regularly. I bought one a few years ago for $700.00.

Depending on where you live, winter is the best time to buy; storm season (April-Nov), the worst.

So, a small generator.....to run a heater....... in the winter.....and you wish to be economical about it.....fair enough.

Until your in some place and it's -10 degrees (Gillette, Wy) and you want the poor thing to fire and run or your a year in to your adventure and you want a reliable genie to just start and run for hours, quietly and efficiently.

Sorry, don't mean to be snarky, but just get a Honda eu2000 and be done with it. Even when you get your diesel heater you'll either keep it or sell it for 90%-100% of your investment.

Our 2000 is easily over 19 years old, been through 4 RV's, a number of 4wd's, countless events/camps/bbq's, a handful of power outages and now power for constructing anew shop and still running solid.

Good luck!

Get the Honda! And sell it for $750 when your ready.
Get a $500 one and sell it for $250.
You had use of the best one for the same money.
No brainer.
