Building a flat floor in my JK, HDPE, Richlite, Marine Plywood, Aluminum.......

I've got well used and loved original Kilby floor kit I'm going to sell when I get around to building a raised aluminum custom camper setup. I have considered goose gear for the fit finish and time savings but their system even when you buy all the parts is not exactly what I want design and layout wise. I was going to half-*** freehand it but after seeing others digital mock ups am thinking it might be worth drawing it up with a bill of materials to share with others. Other than cut up cardboard boxes what are people building prototype mock ups out of?

It looks like quite the jump for your dog. Having had a 110 pound retired police GSD, I know it's no problem, until they get old.
Do you have a plan for that?
My Coyote/Cattle dog mix is 11 and is becoming hesitant to jump in from the back door of my 4" lift 35" tire JK. My lab is 2, she has no issues. I am thinking I will have to make a ramp soon since old dogs usually don't like being lifted up.

Yeah, I just lift him out. He is still young and jumps in OK. But I don't want the stress on his front quarters of jumping down.
After about 5 to 7 years old, I don't like them jumping period.

Have you ever seen those plastic folding step stools, that fold flat. I was thinking about building an oversized one that would be at normal seat height. This way it could double as a chair. That would make a nice intermediate platform they could step down to.

my plan is similar.

I have been considering this for quite some time. So long in fact I may sell the jeep before I do it. Then do it on the new Jeep. MY thoughts are pretty simple I would only raise the bed floor 3 and /1inches the with of a 2x4. I would likely use metal 2x4s . I would first use an insulating material like Dan did to cover the floor for quiet. I would Fram out the area possibly insert those rubber floor squares that you use to make standing on the concrete easier on your feet. I am only going 3/12 because the stuff indeed to carry will fit nicely laying down . so each area would be hinged. In the footwells I had planned to frame it out and then insulate with these foam rectangles that my wife refrigerated meds come in . I f I new more about refrigeration I might just build in a refrigerator unit one part of the floor well . In the other part bulky tools or food also insulated as needed. The floor board of the JK has drain plugs in it ,I think it owl be some to water proof that outlet so you could use it like a cooler or as I said earlier a refrigerator. Then in the back where the little storage box is I would deepen that recapture the area where the scissors jack is stowed. along each side I would Fram it out so that the base of top is even with theta of the frame out and build little cubbies into each side. as for theta I was thinking making e grade play wood but now I see all this other stuff to think about. for a final cover I would probably go with those foam pads for floors you can get em at harbor freight and I think 10 bucks will cover the entire jeep floor. I have 2 big dogs. One is a Bernese Mtn.dog the other a 100 lb golden retriever . so I don want anything too high . On my rock rails I put rubber anti slip diamond tree so that jump down isn't high. as it is my golden who can jump quiet high won't jump into he jeep because I have alway lifted him. and they sort of scoot out. Every time I try to pick the Berner she launches into space like a rocket an I have to catch her.
