Very nice. i am working on a similar project and have a question. what are you using for insulation in the walls? I am using 1x1 steel for my frame and want to get as much insulation as possible. i will be using mine as a shelter while hunting and working snow duty in Denver. Thank you.

Any updates? Would you share some interior pics? Very nice build, I am taking notes from all of you that have ventured to construct off-road "Tears". Thanks for sharing!

Nice work..I am thinking of building a camper shell for my pickup using the same technique of steel frame and aluminum skin, what gauges of the square tube and aluminum sheet are you using?

Also I would like to make a brake bender like yours, do you have a drawing??

Thanks, I want to see more of the finished interior too!!

I'm liking your design.
A lonnnggg time ago, I worked at UTILITY trailer, and used to buile quite a few enclosed trailers out of those scrap materials that we could buy back then.
I still have enough aluminum panels, alum posts, roof skin, rivets, rivet set & driver, etc to build me one similar looking to yours. Less the frame, would be mostly aluminum construction. The wheels are really turning now..... Hmmmm

Looks like a fun project! Thanks for the inspiration.:victory:

Looks like the Max Coupler.

Have you made any improvements to the design that would allow us to move forward, or is it basically a copy?

Have you put it through the safety testing process so that it is certified for on road use?

I see you intend to sell your coupler, do you have product liability insurance in case you have a catastrophic failure?

When you start to manufacture the responsibilities start to mount up.

Isn't the Max Coupler Patent Pending? I have borrowed many ideas from builders on here, however, not sure I agree with copying a Patent Product.

Just my .02

I don't think patents matter for personal use, only sales. Same deal with regulatory safety approval.

It is just as illegal and wrong to copy a patent for personal use as it is to copy and sell them.

The whole purpose of a patent is to protect individual's who spend their time and money designing, testing, improving, certifying and producing a product from people copying it. This way they can recoupe their substantial investment by selling it.

I apologize for spouting off, this is just a big pet peeve of mine. I have no connection with the manufacturer; except I just purchased a Max Coupler, worth every penny.

I think it's all about moving forwards not sideways.

If you can substantially improve on an existing design so that it improves it's function then we have gone somewhere.

If a product is a direct copy we have gone nowhere.
