New bumper, or just modify what already works? I went with modify since parts were free. here is what came from it.

Nice. I like seeing factory stuff modified to work. Have seen some real nice examples over the years.

Thanks, grill and clear lenses came from early year model. Short bumper is are from a freinds jeep, he changed his bumper over and offeredold to me. light bracket (welded on) is from a 2002 dodge ram 1500. Rims are 20's with 33's

The mix of bumpers works well for the eye...good stuff!
Love that era of Ford van...the grill and lights/lenses are really working here too.

Only cause it's already been mentioned....I'm a rubber more than rim guy for the offroad look/scene. 20" rim needs at least a 38" rubber IMHO.

Looks great, Meeks. Very similar to what I have in mind. I want to do the Roo bar attatched to the frame with recovery points.

That combo looks good. How did you do it? Just cut away the rear of a jeep bumper and weld it to the surface of the stock bumper?

I'd like someting like that on my Astro, but i still have the plastic bumper cover

2 main steps, first the jeep bumper mounted (on the jeep)with 4 bolts. so it was easy to just contour it with a grinder to fit the stock bumper, then weld it up. after that it was cuttin the light bar mounts off to fit the front of the jeep bumper.

for your app might want to look at s-10's they have metal bumpers.

For our Astro/Safari's...you'd just need to cut holes thru the plastic cover for the new bumper mounts...there's a steel bumper behind it.

The s-10 axle is 60" vs the Astro at 66"(or was it 68"?) so I don't think the front bumper will work.

Can you confirm that Loops?

S-10's are really only good for Transfer cases and 4x4 emblems.

I wasn't talking about using an S10 bumper at all actually....Just that there is a steel bumper right behind our bumper cover.
