Bumper options for DII

After giving my tres-euro looking front bumper yet another nice "thwack," I have decided to make that my next farkle. I know bumper choice is a highly personal thing, but I'm sure you guys have a good basis for your choices.

ARB? TJM? Rover Tyme?

What do you do with the washer jets and washer fluid bottle with an RT style bumper? Is one bumper more winch friendly than another?

While we're at it, what about rear bumpers?

The ARB and TJM are very nice bumpers but IMO the approach angle suffers a whole bunch. The Rovertym is my favorite out of the bunch but you lose the washer jets and have to relocate the washer bottle.

Rovertym gets my vote for the front and the rear.

I had an ARB on my Disco I but sold it for more clearance and got a Safari Gard.

Thank Muddy,

Frankly, I wasn't even sure my washer jets even worked until last month. No big loss there if I lose them. Do the RT bumpers favor a certain winch?

Depending on your use.

Flounder,

I went with the RTE bumper and decided to remove my washer bottle at the time and then I installed a hood blackout and removed the sprayers, I was going to relocate the bottle and use one from a D90 and never got around to it. Recently I saw a DII with an RTE bumper and the factory washer bottle in stock location the only thing was it was painted black and I decided that's what I am going to do.

But what I wanted to saw was that I haven't had windshield washer sprayers for over a year and haven't missed them at all.

Good luck on your decision!

No problem. The RTE bumper will take all Warn, and Superwinch winches and the Ramsey Platinum and ProPlus models.

Like FourByLand said you will have to remove or relocate the windshield washer reservoir because it will hang down below the bumper. If you want to relocate the washer you can see how it's done here.

Pics for comparison.

Yeah, RTE will basically build your bumper to suit the winch you specify, just let Steve know what you are looking for.

Great customer service!

Fourby,

When I see you, I will show you what I did with the washer bottle since I bought my RTE. Its a peice of cake.

Amit,

Looking forward to seeing your solution, like I said I haven't needed it over the past year but it may be nice to have on a dusty trail.

Let's see what you've got!

Seems to me the ARB and the RT are extreme opposites. The ARB offering the ultimate protection and the RT offering the extreme approach clearance.

The TJM seems a bit of the 'tweener here. That holds some appeal to me. Anyone have any info on TJM bumpers. That winch plate seems like it could hold some challenges.

I am not a fan of ARB bumpers...... But I do believe that RTE is great.. Not to mention they are extremely helpful!

In my experience, any of the RTE items are top notch. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the bumpers you are looking at.

I have an RTE bumper and couldn't be more happy. Had another bumper before and sold it to get the RTE. As stated here their service is great and the product is super solid as well.
