butane below freezing

And with adapters, no different gear is needed.

With backpacking gear it quite often does.

Some stoves use the tank as a base, some do not.

All of ours are tank-base types. And the LP tanks not only have a smaller foot print, they are taller.
Add an adapter, and the setup is more prone to tip-over as well as wind.

FYI. we went to iso-butane for one major reason, weight. The LP tanks alone weigh more than the fuel they carry.
Every ounce matters.

Those little backpacker stoves can be used anywhere, not just hiking.

There are adapter + stands that bring the head unit down bit of flex hose bottle off to the side, keep the can oriented right.

Just saying, no need to switch stoves just to use a different fuel, if you have one you like it swings both ways.

Your not hearing me.

It isn't that simple with all backpacking stoves.

You don't just add a stand and a hose to an MSR pocketrocket

Don't believe me? Post up a link of said stand and hose for it....

It doesn't exist. No matter really, nobody would use it due to the increased complexity and weight. ;)

By spreading misinformation?

Seriously, it isn't that simple with backpacking stoves.

Large camp stoves, sure. But not backpacking.

Yes most US stock discontinued, maybe liability?

but Chinese & So Korea vendors ship cheap, latter better quality

and meantime found other models, any-to-any adapters between propane / butane, all still out there.

Maybe ten min googling

Like I said, isn't so simple.

Might be a liability thing, or simply no market for it, probably a combination of the two.

As I mentioned, its simply more complicated and more weight.

That's why we simply run either a isobutane setup, or an LP setup.
Each setup has a simple tank mounted stove and a tank.

No adapters, no additional stands, no hoses, no BS.

Happy New Year all. To try to head off a bigger urinating match I will state, in cooler weather I swap fron the canister type stoves to my old trusty Whisperlight. It has served me well for better part of 20+ yrs, with minimal care and cleaning they are capable of year round service. I've swapped out the jets for the multi fuel one. With this i generally run straight gasoline ,but in Afghanistan I would run JP8 and diesel no problem. While having a higher weight than a canister type, it doesn't have the temperature driven issues either.

As in, can be used on my boat, in my van, picnic tables, city parks, my dining table at home, etc
