No - they are all built to order unless you are looking for a used one. Regardless, they have some ideas that are food for thought. Seeing these things caused me to download the new CPI catalog - LOTS and LOTS of nice stuff. Too bad that Amazon doesn't carry their products.

There are a few things that I might call them about, though.

Today's sneaky trick:

Anyone renovating an ambulance will have some unused functions on a control panel:



The lighting and AC switches are all fine, but I have some that I know I'll change, such as "electric oxygen", "Vacuum", and O2 light". A standard trick for ambulance electricians is to use a translucent label maker label in place of the ones that need to be changed. They often use a Brother label maker, except with a TZe335 label - which comes out as white letters on a black background. If the original label is an insert over white plastic, the label is just applied, but if the existing label is silk screened on white plastic, the original label is carefully removed with some fine wet-or-dry abrasive paper.

I wonder if the second photo (the Winebago) isn't a Photoshopped combination of a Winebago and an armored vehicle? Regardless, it still would be an interesting vehicle.

Photoshopped, but there are some real life comparables out there, though maybe not quite as stout. Do a search on snowcats. There's one based on a VW micro bus that's pretty cool.

I know Pat, just pointing out their existence. Btw, that wheeled coach logo got one step closer to the post. I actually remembered to grab it today while in the garage. And then left in in my golf cart after running the kids around for the neighborhood trick or treat thing. But Hey! At least it's off the shelf.

The Winebago snow cat would have been believable here in MN's north country years ago -- I had a cousin once who took a small German car (a Lloyd), and turned it into a wheeled snowmobile. When he bought it, he drove it up a couple of 2x6 planks into the back of his pickup, slammed the tailgate, and took off for northern MN. The rear wheels were replaced with skis, and the front fenders were chopped off to clear the "large" Volkswagen snow tires. With the car's gas fired heater, he had an enclosed virtual snowmobile. You'll still see the northern MN version of redneck projects when it's "too cold to work, so lets go ice fishing..."
