Calmini products??

I'm a newbie to Nissan offroading even though my first 4x4 was an 88 Pathfinder 2 door.
My wife now has a slightly modded 2000 X and I was wondering what was the general consensus of Calmini products like their rear bumper and lift kits.
Is there a better place to look for rear bumpers with a tire carrier?

Thanks in advance.

If you are in the market for a Calmini lift, I have the following items for sale:

  • CALMINI Rear shackles - some dings but will work fine
  • CALMINI Torsion Bars - some paint chips
  • CALMINI Upper Control Arms - Good condition
  • CALMINI Steering System - Good condition of components / bushings in idler arm may need to be replaced
  • CALMINI Add-A-Leaf - still good spring rate

All for 2000-2004 Xterra.

Will let it all go for $500. Need space in my storage facility.

ah man.... i just ordered a auto customizers lift kit.... oh well

anyhow, the differences between the two kits MaddBaggins is that with the AC lift kit you get higher spring rates.

calmini
20% stiffer than stock torsion bars
2 leaf pack
plate upper control arm
calmini shocks
3" lift
longer shackle
cost ~$900-$1200 depending on where you get the kit

automotive customizers (4x4parts.com)
30% stiffer than stock torsion bars
3 leaf pack
Chromally tubular control arm
choice of bilstein or rancho shocks
3" lift
choice of longer shackle or revolvers
cost ~$800-$1400 depending on which kit you want (lots of options)

and this place sells just about everything you could want for your xterra for reasonable prices. Your bumper choices from this place are, ARB, Shrockworks , and TJM. This is the cheapest place i could find, and use.

Uhh no AC lift components on my truck.

All SLR custom stuff with Light Racing hyraulic bump stops, and a Deaver rear end.

I used 4x4parts for my front and rear lockers, transfer case gears, bumpers, etc. but no lift stuff.

The CALMINI stuff has been in my storage for a year and a half, maybe more.

I would say Calmini makes good products. I have had their lift, front and rear bumpers and a few other items that have held up great with the abuse I put them through. My only complaint would be their powder coating. Whoever does it for them does not prep the pieces well, and therefor the powder coat chips off. Not a bad thing on suspention parts, but it looks hidious on bumpers. Also, I like the calmini rear bumper, but I think shockworks did a better job on theirs. It's more usable and better looking. However I like the Calmini front bumper better then the shrock one. I guess its all in personal preferance. As to the customer service, I have never had a problem with them. They have always been nice and honest with everything they have told me.

On a side note, in about 4 months I will have a Calmini rear bumper and complete Calmini lift for sale. Not sure on the price, everything is used, but in good condition. The UCA's will come with new bushings and ball joints.

Thanks for the responses!
The lift kit is kind of a secondary thought. Her X is already lifted, but I think it was pieced together and I really don't know much about lift kits on IFS vehicles. I'll have let her drive my Cruiser one weekend and spend some quality time rolling around under the X. I need to get more familiar with setup.

I like the rear bumper and I checked out the Shrockworks one. I think we'll go with it. The rig already has a Shrockworks front bumper and skid plating from somewhere else.

:rappel: I've said this a number of times and I have to assume that CALMINI has improved their rear bumper quality control, for NISSANS

My Calmini Xterra rear bumper was a MESS and I had talked to their "in house" rep who had assured me there would be NO TROUBLE, well there was, the frame bolt holes were too SMALL and the swing away latch plate was 5 to 10 degrees off level

IMGP0422.jpg

I fixed it and have used it for 2 & 1/2 years now, I'm fairly sure they have corrected this problem, but having purchased other accessories from SHROCKWORKS I would have to recommend SHROCKWORKS

They have outstanding customer service and the only problem with their product is DELIVERY TIME after ordering

I've had no trouble with Calmini powdercoat, or weld quality, which is PRIMO

I have a Calmini rear bumper on my 01. It sucks! The poorly designed latch has come open twice going down the road. The tire carrier rattles like crazy also.
I helped a friend instal a Shrockworks rear bumper and I was impressed with the quality.
On another note I have a Shrock front bumper and love it. Very beefy!
PS: My Calmini steerng system is a joke and has been nothing but a headache. (Idler arm bushings)

I don't know why, but I've seen a lot of Calimini sucks! posted around the net, but I never see the reason why.

if you want a great lift (superb components and excellent customer service) you should check out PRG products.
http://www.prgproducts.com/shop/category/xterra/

I'm running their 4WD advanced kit plus alcan leaf packs and I can't stress enough how much this lift rocks!!!

In terms of armor (skids, sliders, bumpers) go Shrockworks. Better quality and great customer service. However, their wait times kinda suck.
