There's a series of articles about camera bags on The Online Photographer. Reading the articles and comments is an enjoyable way to waste a few weekend minutes.

Part One

Part Two

Part Three

And general followup comments are included in the blog here

The blog owner's rapture about the Billingham Hadley series of bags was fun to read. It's below the "flaming tripod on the volcano" picture.

Thanks for the link, im in the market for a new bag and wanted to see what the folks on expo used. Im leaning towards a decent size backpack that can sit in the backseat and flip open as needed while on the trail, but also be zipped up to haul gear out for a hike as necessary. Like the author said in the blog, every bag has its purposes and I to, am a bagaholic. Im sure I could get the job done with my Lowepro Slingshot 200 or my Lowepro Inverse 200 or my Tenba messenger bag or my....ill stop there :)

Great share, thanks. I'm a pro photog and seem to collect camera bags like most girls collect heels. Different bags for different jobs. Definitely do have my favourites, though!

I have been using a cheapo Amazon backpack for a year now and it has taken a pretty good beating. Plus one of our cats has an appetite for it's zipper fobs for some weird reason. I too am in the market for something a little better, stronger, faster, etc. I was considering the Canon backpack for @ $60 but that Domke in OD green is absolutely the sexiest to me!

I am on a budget. Any recommends? I usually cart my 50-250, 50 prime and leave my 18-50 on the T2i. Plus I carry some batteries and charger, cleaning cloth, extra hood, and some other crap just-in-case.

I usually carry my D300s, 50mm 1.8, 80-200 2.8, 2x teleconverter, lens hoods, spare batteries, charger...blah blah along with a first aid kid and some misc stuff, all in my Lowepro SlingShot 202 AW. Very comfortable to carry around all day and easy access to the camera. And has a built in rain cover for when the weather turns on you. Retail was around $100 when I bought, but looks like you can pick one up on Amazon for $69 now.

Id second the Lowepro Slingshot 200 or 202 idea. I have the 200 (which is just olde than the 202 and without a few features) and really like it, very well thought out bag. Lowepro nailed it with that one IMO. I also just picked up a used Lowepro Microtrekker 200 off craigslist for $30. Other than it not having the all weather cover, I absolutely love it. It holds my D7000 with 17-50 2.8 mounted, 70-300 VR, Sigma 10-20, 50 1.8, 35 1.8, SB600 and Go Pro w/ accessories. A lot of gear in a relatively small pack, but its very comfortable on the shoulders, and the price was right :) Its my 5th bag so far, and they all have a purpose, just cant seem the find....the one (if it exists lol)
