Anyone have a good recommendation for front pack to carry a 35 slr with battery pack? My lowepro finally gave out?... Thanks

I use one of these if I have a pack on my back or simply am going light on camera gear. Not much room for anything but the essentials. Works well with a 70-200 pouch attached to the side too. Shoulder strap(w/swivels) included. or wear on a belt. Black 2" nylon webbing with fastex type buckle works well. can be had for a lot less coin if you get a black tool belt rather than a camera bag belt:

I use this one from Promaster. Fits a 5D MKII with the 24-105 L (big) lens perfectly. Obviously can't carry much else, but it fits spare battery, memory card, cleaning stuff, and a few other things just right for when I just want something simple for the day.

Construction is perfect, feel is good, only thing I'm going to change is to waterproof it, otherwise it is perfect. Just saw that you are wanting a battery pack to fit as well...I'm pretty sure it would fit but snug, can't say for sure as I don't have one.

Ugly but tougher than a pine knot

I've had several bags in the past and have gotten rid of them all. I came to the realization that they only served as impact protection and that moisture, sand and dust were still enemies. I now use a Pelican 1450 with 1455 padding set. I don't worry about sand and rain anymore like I did with the bags. The black Pelican case isn't very stylish though, you sometimes get strange looks.
