Camera Gear in Front Cabin of JKU

I'm interested to see solutions for carrying camera gear in the front cabin.

I am looking for some sort of mount that will keep my camera safe and be easy to grab when I want to stop and shoot some pictures. When I'm shooting with my prime lens I stick it in the center console. When I'm shooting with a telephoto, it typically doesn't fit as the lens is too long.

Probably not the most well thought out answer, but I usually take my camera backpack and attach it to the back of my passenger seat (so the chest and waist bands securely hold the bag up, passenger "sits" on them but usually isn't an issue). I can then reach back for it or hop out and get into the bag if I need something.

I'm interested in what others do, it's something I've wanted to change for a while but haven't moved on.

Do you have a QR base plate? If so, you could get a matching mount, and fix it to the side of the console.

I have a chest pack that gets strapped around the passenger seat, if I'm running solo.
It bounces around just a bit, but no more than if I was hiking.
When running with a passenger, the camera is packed behind the driver's seat.

Passenger seat is typically occupied and would prefer to keep it up front.

I think you're onto something with the QR plate. Ideally something that comes out of the center console into the passenger footwell that I'd be able to reach over and grab with ease.

Looking into pairing a QR plate with a RAM mount system... If I find something good, will post here when I get it installed.

My x-s1 Fuji sits perfectly in the cup holder lens down. solid, and easy to grab. I have a smugmug neoprene strap so I wrap the lens first.
