Camera suggestions; G10 or ???

Looking for multipurpose digital camera suggestions: manual controls, high quality images, minimal shutter lag.

A DSLR is too large for my uses.

G10 might be a fit, but I have heard that shutter lag can be a problem. I won't be shooting in RAW format; will this help with the shutter lag?

Any other high end, multipurpose point and shoot with manual over ride to suggest?

Nikon P6000 is Nikon's answer to the G10.

This one is worth a look. I've been thinking about getting it, but the idea of saving money for a D700 keeps holding me back.

At any rate, prefocusing is the best way to combat shutter lag in P&S cameras.

Im far from a camera expert, but my G10 was great for SEMA. couldnt be happier..
