Camp Chef® Propane Fire Ring - Anyone have comments about this product?

I love fire too, the smell, the sounds, the way it dances... In fact i just ordered one of these fire rings so i have the ability to move it around my backyard until i figure out where im going to build the permanent one. I guess the added benifit would be to have an instant fire for those spontaneous "lets go have a beer by the fire moments" then be able to just shut it off and walk away when the moment passes...

We actually enjoy not having a fire in camp. Our reasons?
  • More stars can be seen
  • Fewer bugs
  • No kippered herring smell on you when you wake up the next day.
  • I sleep better when I don't have to worry about the camp fire being completely out.

I agree. More times than not, I'll skip a fire just to have better vision for seeing the night sky. If it's overcast, I'm going to have a fire. A big one.

This actually worked much better than I thought. It put out nice flames and a fair amount of heat. We were even able to make campfire pies and s'mores. It used up an entire 5lb propane tank over the course of 3 nights.

Can you please confirm that tank size? 5lb or 5 gal?

Thanks!

Oh, good catch, bajajoaquin! That should be 5gal, sorry for the typo. A bit of a gas hog, but we were lighting it before dark and running it full bore, so three nights on 5gal seemed fair enough.

The doggies liked it :)
