Camp Pillow

I started going through other posts and even tried the search function but did not see anything about camp pillows. since I was a boy scot this has always been a hot topic, what to take, what works, and is a waste of time and money.

I started out tent trailer camping with my parents as far back as I can remember, and then we would take our pillows from out beds. Once I was into Scouts we would take a pillow case with us and stuff clothing in and use that and this is what I keep doing until recently when I moved from hiking and canoeing to the vehicle based in a XJ. For the last 2 years I have been taking a full pillow with me but I have seen camp pillows available, are they any good, and if not what do you use.

Thank You for your input.

I sleep on a down filled futon mattress, using a down comforter, with two fullsize pillows (also down filled). I absolutely refuse to compromise my sleeping comfort, so the rest of my camping kit takes second priority to making sure I sleep well.

I use a small one I found at Wally World near the regular pillows. More importantly, they had zippered pillow cases that can be changed during the trip. I've never understood the "put extra clothes in your stuffsack" thing. If it's cold, my extra clothes are on me. If it's warm, the've been washed and are hung out to dry.

We use the Thermarest compressible pillows when backpacking or overnight canoe trips. When camping in the trailer we use regular bed pillows and to be honest, I like those the best.
If you can't sleep, I guess you could use these. I can just see myself stumbling around the campsite on a midnight run, wearing these pups!

We use latex pillows for a few reasons. They're very comfortable and they don't get damp. They are pricey though at 100$ US. The brand I purchased for us is called Natura Ultimate. We have the contour and the regular in queen size. They have a wool cover too. I like the wool for it's moisture resistance too.

This reminds me I need to post up our bedding solution for the Maggiolina GT.
It's very comfortable in all weather conditions.

Flannel sheets, heavy duty winter down comforter, and queen/king size Serta pillows in firm.

I used an air one for years when I use to backpack, but for tent camping and when I had my two tent trailers, I like pillows just like on my bed at home.

I am a light sleeper, and anything that can make me feel more comfortable when not in my bed at home helps me sleep better when camping.

Makes sense. I change our wool pillows for the bedrooms out a few times a year. These latex pillows stay in the Maggiolina. We (wife) washes the cases along with rest of the bedding after each camping trip. Between the latex and wool I'd say the latex stay usable a lot longer than 6 months. Either way you got to pay to play. :smiley_drive:

My wife has a Tempur-Pedic that she cut in half which is incredible. I use whatever's around that's semi soft (i.e. jackets, socks, soft rocks, etc.)
