AT realeased thier taco chaser concept 2-13-07 Campa evs 3-6-07. The Campa evs came to be in Oct of '06 on our baja trip. I was sitting on the beach with Chris betweeen rocky point and El Golfo and I told chris I wanted him to build me a campa set up to replace the bed of my taco. He loved the idea and on the way home stopped at toyota of dallas and spec ordered a new tacoma. He picked it up in january after news years and got to work.

Release dates are approximately correct. They happened to be separate projects that coincidentally happened around the same time. The Taco Chaser was conceived on a napkin during a show we were doing in Sacramento. Matt was thinking of doing a tube bed at the time and suddenly realized that the Chaser body was about the same size as his frame. He ran outside to his truck with a tape measure to confirm his suspicions. Within less than 4 weeks it was executed. The Campa on the other hand was a lot more involved as it was not simply a trailer body fitted to the bed. It was purpose built system designed specifically for the rig. Kudos to Chris at Campa for the excellent execution of the design.

For what it is worth, no one other than Matt ever pulled the trigger on converting their rig into a Taco Chaser. It remains the one and only. Last I spoke with Chris a couple of months ago, the same applies to his EVS conversion. As always, one of the mysteries in business is what people say is cool or interesting and what people will actually do to their own rigs.

I to would like to have a utility rear half to my truck. My GF wouldn't like the DD to look too ExPo. And the old truck is too old for me to spend the $$$ on. If and when I do I'll be sure to give credit where credit is due for ideas and buy supplies from reputable vendors. :arabia: :sunny: Happiness and Light

well i stirred the pot on accident i guess. oops my bad.

personally i like tha campa better. just because it has easier access. having to lift the top is kinda irritating, and if the truck is high enough in the air it wont lift all the way up. plus it would make it kinda cumbersome to get into.

the campa on the other hand is a rather easy to copy. a simple frame with shelves and drawers.
