Skamper Pop-Up

A few pic's from 2 camping trips. The first set are of my 96 F-250 PSD with my 88 Skamper. Pic's are at
Hither Hills State Park, Montauk Point NY. The others are of the same Skamper on my 99 F-350 PSD.Those pic's are at a campground in Greeport NY. The 99 replaced the 96 that got wrecked about a month after the Montauk trip.

2011 Dodge 2500 CTD crew cab short bed. Airbags and Hellwig sway bar. Needs some suspension help. 38,000 miles about to replace stock shocks and perhaps Supersprings. 2006 Hallmark Ute camper.

I love that CJ-3B. Do you trailer it behind the camper?

Not yet. I need a trailer first...I need a superhitch first'er. We are only 2.5 years with a camper and dad handed the jeep down to me about 3 years ago, so I am still getting organized. Yes, glaciers are known to move faster than me.

That was my grandmothers jeep on her farm. Been in the family since about 1965 (it is a 1960). I have been doing some moderate restoration. Powder coated the rims (had to replace 2) green. Remounted the spare. Replaced the original springs and shocks. Found an OEM speedometer in Vietnam. Looking for a blinker arm. Etc.

Thanks I have been researching that route, not sure anymore. I don't plan on oversize tires, so do I really want to level it? Mileage hit?

We are mostly highway. 95% highway, 4% dirt, 0.9% rough dirt, 0.1% eyebrow raising. Also about 70% with camper and 30% without camper.

Can or should I get Fox/King shocks and leave the stock springs, with addition of some rear helpers/overloads/whatever?

The airbags are not working alone as they are mounted inboard of the springs and increasing sway when things get rough. Turning out of the supermarket parking lot is class V. Does fine on the highway.

A Hellwig Big Wig is a very cost effective tool for sway reduction which won't affect the highway ride. My 2500 springs must have been built on a Monday as the Northstar 1800# overwhelmed them. My stock shocks were gone in a week,replaced by Thuren's,campr valved Kings. The stockers were so soft,my wife could compress them with little effort. Carli did a system a couple of years ago for a 2nd gen with a Bigfoot camper.
