camper frame and shell

I'd like to build a camper on the back of my truck . i see some people are building out of 2x2 1/8 square steel frame while others i see are using 2x4 steel studs.what should i uses as the outside sheeting or skin should i use on the inside.are there any good how to books out there.any other info i would like thanks for your time

Either of the above sounds heavy but I guess it depends how much metal you plan on using. Here's a shot of a Callen frame (upper right corner of page).

Based on drilling my Callen frame, I think it's 2x1 w/ a thickness of about 1/16".

Weight is an issue. Figure out the weight of you, passengers, luggage, fuel, water, food, spare parts and tire, and whatever else you want to take along. Subtract that from the max load for your vehicle. What's left over is what you have to work with for the camper body.
