Camper Shell Interior 12V Accessories

I'm going down to the camper place tomorrow to get some prices...in the meantime I'm planning fun 12V stuff I can install in the shell to enhance my camping experience:coffeedrink:

First thing is a couple small 12V fans...it'll probably get stuffy with the me, the wife and dog sleeping in there. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cost-effective solution?

Something like this:

for the last 6 years we have put those 12vt walmart fans in our trucks...and carried 2 along with us for the tent...and a jump-pack battery...

the van now has 3 installed so everybody can get a fan blowing on them WHEREVER they are..

in my opinion...they are worth their weight in gold..:wings:

Welcome to ExPo! Nice color on the Tacoma.

I thought I would use some different 12v things in my camper, but all I really use it for is charging the phone. (I try to keep things simple.)

I'm using an inexpensive two speed fan I got from Lowe's IIRC. It uses 4 D batteries and came with an AC adapter. I've changed batteries in it once since I bought it about two years ago. It just doesn't seem to use much juice. I've also got one of those inexpensive clamp style fans that plugs into the cig lighter. It's easier to direct where you want it but noisier.

A buddy of mine uses a couple of computer cooling fans as he says they use less battery power than others. I have no idea whether they do or not, never looked at the specs.

You'll also need one of these:

Nothing like fresh smoothies in the woods! Or fresh margaritas. :costumed-smiley-007

Yep, I've got one and they work pretty well as long as you're not trying to blend large chunks of ice.

I got the clip on style 12v fan. works great for sleeping in the back.

Well, "get some prices" somehow turned into "placing an order" haha. I've got an ARE V-series on the way...I went with a driver's side vented windoor, Yakima tracks and a front sliding window. Cost me $1350 out the door...not too bad!

Thanks for the replies guys. If the D battery fans last awhile I may go with those until I can swing a proper dual battery setup for extended elec. accessory use.

Next mod will be a sleeping platform from Lowes!

I have a cheapo fan that takes both D batteries and you can also plug it into the cig lighter in your truck.

When it gets really hot though there is just no sleeping in the back.

I see that coleman has some D-operated fans that attach to the mesh in a tent via magnet...I wonder if they'd also work attached to the screened-in side windows on my shell.

or magnets

I glued big washers to the top of my shell and use the fan's magnets to hold them up.

Good thinking Jay, I like that! Do you have the Coleman Zephyr window fans? If so, what's your overall impression? Battery life, etc?
