Camper tie downs? Got pics and questions

I bought a used truck that came with a lot of things for campers and trailers, BUT the extensions that slide into the anchoring system are missing. I've crawled around with lights, glasses on etc. and can't for the life of me find any manufacture markings to tell me who to get the extensions from so I can tie down a camper when I find one.

Is this a critical thing that I NEED from said manufacturer or can I manufacture my own with good quality steel square tubing and welded flanges on the ends to slip in the camper tie downs to?

My neighbor wants to see if his TORKLIFTs fit as he has extras. If they do he said to make an offer? What is a good offer? As I can't find any where on the web a parts list for replacing components.

We have a set of Torklift frame mount camper tie downs on our F350. The extensions are made from standard 2"x2" stock like you'd find on a hitch. Mine are not straight, but have a bend in them. Basically, the mounts angle downwards, and the bend results in the outer part of the extension being more or less parallel with the ground.

Obviously, the mounts that attach to the frame are unique to a particular truck model, but the extensions may be standard. I'm not really sure about that though.

I would think you might be able to fab something yourself assuming you've got the right skills and tools. You might also think about contacting Torklift and see if they can help.

That's the thing Dave I don't know if they are Torklift or other brand. The front is similar to Torklift but the rear looks like, I believe I have the name correct, Happineck

Can't really help with the identification since each mount is going to look different based on the model of truck. I've never heard of Happineck - could it be Happijack? It would seem strange to me to see a mixed set of mounts, but I suppose it's possible.

I've found the Torklift folks to be very helpful in the past, so they may be able to help you with the identification and some advice about getting a new set of extensions.

I'd bet the farm your fronts are Torklift. Here is a shot of the front on our truck. They go straight out and two positions (one in when not in use and one out when in use):

Here you can see the rear goes down a bit to clear body work. Very easy to fab your own if need be:

Neighbor had an extra set of Tork Life extensions. The rears are perfect in every way. The front fit and work but the pins are substantially larger than the rear for securing the extensions. I'll have to drill the ones mounted on the truck to get the pin to slide in and lock.

I asked the nieghbor what he wants for the extensions and it will cost several bottles of wine...something called Smoking Loon!:costumed-smiley-007

torklift tiedowns

Torklift makes the best engineered tiedowns. You got lucky! check the website for the turnbuckles they make, they call them Fastguns. It makes getting the camper on and off very easy.
