Finally got a chance to get out and test my trailer and tent combo. I have been working on the trailer since November 2014 it has completely changed from the first design. This park is about 40 minutes form my house so the trailer got some good highway time, it handled beautifully. Also since I purchased the tent back around March this has been the first time it has been used, sleeping in a RTT is different for sure but really cool. I got a lot of compliments on the tent and trailer from by passers in the park you got to love those.
But here are a few pictures from my overnight adventure with my 11 year old son. We had beef stew and fresh baked cornbread for dinner (I forgot the veggies for the stew). This was the first time cooking real food over a fire as well. Baking the cornbread was easy and a nice meal. Temperature was in the 60s for the day and got down to the low 40s so the fire, food and weather really came together.

Missing the veggies but over all not bad.

Morning breakfast: Sausage, Eggs, Cornbread

Before departure me and my son did a walk around lasting about 25 minutes collecting trash from the ground that was left behind from others. I am a big fan of leave it better than you found it. Well this was a great overnight trip, learned a little stuff forgotten, stuff needed and changes that need to happen to the trailer to make things flow smoother.

Looks like a good shake down run. I ran into similar oopses on our first trip out with our RTT. Coming from a RV that has everything to a jeep and small trailer with RTT. I need to learn to pack lighter. Good luck on your next adventures.

Looks awesome. What a way to spend quality time with your 11 year old son. Amazing. I got a chuckle out of how much food you made for you and your son...good stuff.

You know an 11 year old is going to eat everything in sight don't you. At least that was what I was doing at that age.

Thanks a lot, Now I am hungry

If I ever get out east, I am going camping with you folks. That looked like some pretty darn good vittles you had there.
I had to laugh, I mis-read the title and thought the thread was about the Standish Hickey area in the CA redwoods. Not a bad spot for forty minutes from home. Nice looking trailer you have built, it should provide a lot of great travel/camp experiences.
