Camping tables

Today's SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As with everything else I have a story to go with it. My wife has a Honda CRV. The storage area under the back instead of being covered by a piece of Masonite like many small cars has a nice little card/picnic/tailgating table. I been wanting a couple of these for camping tables. Nice and strong and a good size. Besides I like salvage stuff instead of spending $60 bucks on a new fancy roll up table.

Those CRV tables are great! I never thought about hitting the junkyards to chase them down  I'm going to scout around for a couple myself this weekend!

I love scores like this! Useful table for trash... Well done. I'll be hitting up local yards now looking for CRVs. FYI, I saw they are paying $4/lb for scrap copper. That includes insulated electrical wire. Keep an eye on those dumpsters, I scored 30 lbs that was destined for the landfill with full permission and about 10 minutes of effort.

4 day trip in the Va Mt's with the Isuzu folks Memorial day weekend. The CRV tables got constant use at the group camp and were a big hit. Very pleased with them.

The other table that got huge use was a tobogan. Yes I was delivering a sled from one member to another. We set it upside down across my M416 military trailer and used it for the group buffet table. Simple is good.

Just to throw it out there I use two tables in my overland setup, one we sale and the other we do not. The table that goes with me everywhere everyday is the Front Runner Stainless Steel Camp Table:

The reason for it going everywhere is that it stows away under my Front Runner Wind Cheetah Roof Rack and you don't even know it is there. Here is the kit for mounting the table up under the rack:

I'm sure you can make it work on other racks if you tried. We also have a smaller table which is more of a prep table with a basin built into it here:

The other table that I love to use, but it is hard to travel with when broken down is the Snow Peak Single Action Table here: http://www.snowpeak.com/furniture/tables/single-action-table-large-lv-015t.html

You know Ben one of the things I really like about that Front Runner Table is how the legs splay out so you can actually sit under the table when eating without threat of bumping it over.

Very nice setup

i picked up an REI brand 28"x28" (i think) aluminum slat roll up table last year with my rebate which has worked very well. its about the same size around but shorter in length packed up than a regular camp chair so its able to slide between my cooler and my cooking/camping bins in the back of the xterra. been meaning to swing by and pick up the longer one to complete the setup for cooking/eating

We have the REI XL Camp Table. I like it a lot. It takes a few minutes to set up and the slats can be a little tricky to clip in, but the table is pretty sturdy and 4 people can eat at it comfortably. The one bummer is that it's so long (55 inches) when folded. It fits fine in our trailer but could be a problem if you have limited space.

Table hinged to truck bed. Not complete nor finished. No support chains or cables needed to hold itself up, but will be used to increase load capacity.

I got a couple of Alps Mountaineering aluminum roll top tables from Steep and Cheap a few years back and they have held up well. I have both the dining table and the camp table.
