Can someone with a 2010 or lower unlimited soft top, take some photos?

I am trying to make sure my soft top hardware is all working correctly, could someone out there get a few photos of how the top bow is setting. Mine locks into the two clips in the door top pieces, but there is one bar that goes across with some straps that sometimes gets messed up.

Kojack.. Here some images of just the frame.. we sold our 2 door soft top (header & fabic) and was left with just the tube frame..

Theres not much difference with the overall design.. and the fabric strap you're referring to is used to support the soft while resting on the frame.

Take note of the strap on the left side.. it runs from the front (middle support tube) towards the smaller support.. the smaller support can rotate thus the strap can get tangled. However, the straps should not be riveted in, moreover they are simply screwed in.. so if a strap gets tangled.. unscrew the desired attach point, adjust then reset the strap.

The plastic knuckles are on the floor.. these attach with the shoulds right behind the seats on the roll bars.. make no mistake these need to be installed on the shoulders correctly or things will not fit correctly or be supported correctly.

I agree.. the cross member, you're speak about can get spun around from it's original position and I believe that is what's causing the tangled webbing/strap. If one actually removed their soft top completely then chances are that cross member can get twirled around. There are points on the soft top where the fabric either snaps in, or velcros onto the tube frame. Also.. if you have the sunrider option this can complicate things even more.

Although this video doesn't show that cross member, it is a good how to based on the JkU's soft top take down.

In this instance, the cross member should go forward as to ally tention to the webbing towards the rear frame support. In other words, if the webbing isn't taunt, then something's wrong.

I think mine got spun around by the previous owner. I am putting a new soft top material kit on mine this spring and I will Replace any worn parts, broken plastic parts then. The cloth needs to be replace as the front plastic part is pulling apart from the cloth and wind noise is horrible....

If the tubed frame is still in great shape, all that's needed is the fabric top. Sites like pavanet end (Bestop company) offer what they call "rewind soft tops" and sell only the part you need.. As for the "header" or windshield channel.. there are several options on the market.. many are redesigns, while others are the exact fit replacement..

If the weather is nice.. open the soft top up and removed the fabric.. from the rear and fold over towards the front.. if you want to remove the soft top completely, here is the link to images posted on my G+ page..The images are reference to how the tube frame screws into the header portion..

I've been looking at these for a while because I wanted to be creative and do something different.. Incorporating a sunrider option on the current Bikini top design. But I'm not willing to pay $150.00 for the sandwiched version of the header.. I'm hoping someone has an old header which I can acquire to make my alterations. After all it was my mistake for selling the header channel, then coming up with this sunrider idea..

If your going to replace the header/channel, I'd be interested in your older header.. But images would be needed just for verification purposes.

When you clip those Sunrider tabs into the door surrounds, then fold the front section into place, that bar is supposed to be a spreader bar that the plastic notch tabs (think like a arrow over a bow string) go between the outter bars on the soft top. I would take pictures of mine but I have not put the soft top back on yet this year. I am running the 2010 top on my 2012. I like the drip edge it forms more than the newer style top with the cable hold downs and no drip edge.

Same here Highlandercj.. we've not had the typical "soft top" on the jeep for 3 years.. all thats left is the frame in the image above. Can't sell or even give it away.

Yeah, my drip edge plastic on the fabric is all cracked up etc now. Its time for a new one. I was looking at the quadratop from Quadratec. I think it comes with the header too.
