Canadian Forces G270 "G-Wagon" being sold surplus, first I have seen.

A little late to the party but with relevant information.

I've been involved in the Canadian Mercedes Benz circles for a LONG time. I've also been a long time offroader. My first vehicle was a 1989 Jeep YJ. Suffice it to say that I, too, had been keeping my eyes open for a decommissioned/surplus Canadian Forces G-Wagen.

The information that I was given was that the Canadian Forces were contractually obligated to return any, and all, G-Wagens to Daimler when they are done with them. Whether they are in working order, or not. Whether they are in one piece, or not.

It's possible that a handful _may_ have slipped through the cracks, but not very likely.

You’re not wrong XJ. I have a friend who is very high up in the CDN Forces (from back when we had spec forces, and he has US Ranger jump wings on his dress uniform). He said he could have one of his Sgt Majors take me out for a “drive” and gun test in one, but that there was no way they will ever be sold as surplus.

There was a small number of damaged Canadian G270 461 parted out last year. I picked up a spring set, front and rear. They are quite burly and too stiff for my needs as I am mostly unloaded and close to stock weight. If any one wants them I can post up some pics.
I also bought a set of the single rear seats since they are so hard to find. Looking to sell them soon as well.

I am adding the rear frame section with the tow loops and jack points. My current rearmost frame crossmember is rusty and doing this solves the whole problem back there.
In addition, I picked up a set of the rear bumpers, tail lights, fender flares and NOS axle set which have already been installed.
I'll update my G500pur thread here pretty soon with photos and descriptions.

We had some great trips in eastern Oregon, Idaho, and eastern Nevada camping last year.
