Canon HV20 for trip documenting

I did a search here and read some good info but didn't see a mention of this camera....
As many of you know (like I haven't blabbed about it enough) I am undertaking the Continental Divide Expedition for Disabled Explorers and while I really want to create high quality video of the trip I am also a newbie and need something fairly small....

So based on price...
Based on ease of use...
Based on size (to mount in rig for "over the shoulder" shots and using inside/outside for filming...
Based on the need for HD since that is now the format of choice...
Based on my idiot factor...
Based on recording media....remember 24 days of travel and while I have a laptop I prefer to pack a ton of tapes and edit upon return.
Is this a good choice?

This will more than likely be my last big purchase for the trip but I also want something I can use after to film our Ride-Alongs, Driver Training and other video needs....will this camera fit the bill there also. I have paired down my budget to just the "must haves" but it seems that a video camera is worth the investment to help "tell the story" afterwards...

Thanks in advance for any thoughts....I rely on this group to make sure all my overtime work is worth it!

Hi, Just happened upon your posting. I have had great responses and terrific information from Camcorderinfo.com. Go to that website and when the home page opens scroll down and on the left side of the page you will find "message" board. Click on that and then if you are getting a Sony click on Sony and wait a few seconds and find the camcorder you are asking about and go from there. I would recommend joining the site(very easy) and then you can post questions, just like here, and get all the necessary and wanted info almost immediately from members with lots of using experience, Good Luck, George Lanning
