We're heading down to Mexico this coming week to stay at an Iberostar resort on the Yucatan Peninsula, and since we expect to partake in numerous aquatic activities (the most extreme being snorkeling), my wife suggested that we get a waterproof case for our camera. Just kinda a neat toy that I thought I'd share - can't wait to try it out. :)

It is a Canon Powershot S80 in a Canon WP-DC1 case.

S80 vs. FX01 vs. R4 vs F30

Hey Chris,

I searched the forum but could not find a write up on your S80. The S80 was one of the camera's I was considering. I would be very interested in your thoughts about the S80. Was there any other compact camera's that you were interested in before the S80?

Thanks,

This looks so cool. I've tried the cheap disposable underwater cameras you can get at a dive shop, but never got any pictures worth a dang. Hope you see some cool underwater critters. :jump:

Enjoy it, they work great. Several folks at work have the waterproof cases for their Canon point and shoots and they are fabulous. The video is fun under water as well.

Also good to keep on the camera on the beach - keep the salt spray and sand from getting in.

Have fun in Mexico,

Jeff

All those buttons are a trip aren't they? I've got an Olympus waterproof case for my C5050 too. I bought it with the intintion of carrying it on the deck of my kayak but it's pretty bulky for that- you're looks much more compact.

My sister in law had a case around her Sony in Hawaii, and the pictures were great. And with digital, you can adjust the white balance to make the pictures pop underwater.

I have a little Sony waterproof (no special case) that I use on every water/extreme adventure and love it.

The case worked flawlessly. Not only is it useful underwater, but it is also invaluable protection from the elements. Unfortunately, picture quality is limited by my poor photography skills. :p

Cool! Thanks for sharing the pics. Nice colors and clarity, I like it. It's very tempting for me to get one of those cases for my Canon A85. I'll be doing some underwater exploration in the caribbean this winter and would love to be able to take the camera without worrying about it, not to mention actually getting some quality underwater shots. I have had issues with camera problems before just from salty ocean air.

They make a similar case for my A85 (same as BajaTaco) that i have been looking into, this might be the push i need to go get it!

The camera case come in handy once again on the trail. I went out and it rained all day. I had the camera in its waterproof case, took the tripod, and got alot of great photos in foul weather.
