Canopy Shell Color

Hi,

I have a 2011 tacoma double cab silver strek mica. Last month I bought an used canopy/shell (red) that needs to be re painted.
I have been toying with the idea of a different color: darker grey or black...
What do you guys think?

your choice but....

if you are paying to get it painted, I say color match. Do you like the contrast of the current look? Take a picture of it and convert it to B&W, that will give you an idea on the contrast look...

If I was tossing the idea back and forth and couldn't make up my mind, I'd say no. I haven't seen anyone else do this, at least not for aesthetics. That in itself would be a red flag.

Photoshop it and see what you think. I bought a black top for my red 03 and I thought I would get it painted, but I ended up liking it. My truck had the color matched bumper, grill and fenders, so the red top would have been too much for me.
I'm happy I left it black. After I added a black ARB and Black limited wheels, the contrast was perfect.

Austintaco's looks good because of the black wheels, sliders etc. If he was on silver wheels etc it wouldn't look nearly as kewl. :bike_rider:

Otherwise color match would be my vote, especially since you have a lighter color to start with which will make it cooler inside the shell (if you are sleeping in it etc).
