Canter in NA

I received a post from FUSO Truck of America, Monday. The first sentence said " Mitsubishi FUSO's next generation truck -- the Canter FE/FG Series --- arrives at your dealer in March 2011."
Looks like FUSO will be selling under the Canter name in Noerth America.
The rest of the letter was sales stuff.
Think I'll stick with my low mileage 2004 FG.
I figure Chip will post specifics.

Crew Cab Dreaming

Hey there. Forgive me, don't know your first name, but I have been looking at the portal for a while now. I would love a crew cab FG. I wondered if there was anything in your stuff from MFTA that talked about finally bringing in a crew 4x4?? (How do you get that stuff anyway??)

I have an F-350 crew 4x4 now, but I want a cabover. More room, like the driving position. My dream is to get an FG, find an FE crew cab, swap cabs, then lengthen the frame. I want to carry, not tow, a 5th wheel. Add some jacks and I have a large 'camper' that utilizes the space over the cab.

I have also thought of taking an FE crew with the 176" wheelbase and trying to convert it to a 4x4 with a divorced transfer case. I get different answers on both ideas. I have had estimates of 4k to lengthen an FG frame, 4k to mount cab and 5k (one at a place called Busbees) to buy the cab. That is an extra 13K. That is before the truck! Could you convert an FE to a 4x4 for less than 13K?

Anyway, just curious to any info on the possibility of a crew. Why won't they bring a crew over I wonder? Can't get an NPS300 either!

Thanks,
Kevin

That was all that was in the letter I received. No mention of specific models beyond FE/FG or options. My first thought before I opened it was that it was a Recall Notice

It is true! The MFTA (Mit. Fuso Trucks America) is going to now be called a Canter. If anyone would like more information please send me an email and I can forward you the official press release and also the chassis specs.

I was wandering around the internet last night and on the mitsubishi uk site, I think it appears to be the new engined canter model that they are selling?
