Tomas, we have been going out to the Needles district since the mid '70's. We have been to many of the same places.

Did you ever read Edward Abbeys The Monkey Wrench Gang? One of the rangers way back then said that it was required reading for them.

I've read that and his other books many times. I grew up on the western slope and he was worshipped. I'm currently reading the park service history document on the park which all rangers now have to read.

I would be interested in the PS history document, can you send more info about it?
I have lent out many copies of Abbeys' books, they never seem to come back.

Have you ever read One Mans West by David Lavender? He tells about growing up in the Paradox Valley in the '30's.
