as I'm sure you know you can totally improve performance on a budget.

There's always plenty of Rubi takeoffs on Craigslist or Jeep forums.

The Rubi sliders will take a decent beating. I haven't felt the need to upgrade them on my current build.

I'm a fan of the BFG KMs as well. They'll look a little small with the lift but they'll hook up well in mud & rocks until you can spring for another setup. The black Hardrock wheels would look good on your rig.

After looking at aftermarket wheels, because I don't like the Sahara 18's, I feel like I'm just going to get a set of rubicon takeoffs. Just the wheels though, I want to get KO2s on them.

Yea the Rubi rockslides are ok but I want something that is going to mount to the frame and take a good beating.

Last day at the ranch. Went and shot my 9mm and my granddads 270 hunting rifle and was pretty happy. I did some off-roading too but was wanting to go through the mud bog .

because... Jeep...

I played around and did alright, got out the first time but I didn't go through the actual mud bog. Decided to go for it

because... Jeep...

Well... I got stuck. BIG TIME. Mud was up to the frame and there was no way in hell I was getting out of there without some kind of help. I ran to the hunting lodge and jumped into the 02 TJ with the warn winch in it. Hauled over to the bog and then began to try to winch my self out. Nope. Was in there gooooooooood. I didn't have D-shackles, had to hook it to the D-ring mount (Im ordering some ASAP) but nothing happened. It got to the point I put it into reverse, was spinning the tires and brining in the winch. The battery almost died.

Finally decided to text my dad for help. My Grandfather, Grand Uncle, and Uncle came over in my ganddads Chevy 2500 with a Duramax Diesel. (I am now calling it the Tug Truck).

Thankfully he had a tow strap, hooked it up, and he pulled me out no problem. No wheel spin, stutter, nothin.

Here are some pics:

I got a shovel from the lodge and tried to get some of the mud off the wheels. Did ok, then decided to head back to the lake house, which is about 5 miles away.

Those were the most terrifying 4-5 miles I've ever driven... Death Wobble like CRAZY.

My granduncle told me to get the pressure washer and clean out the wheels. The amount of mud that was on the inside was HUGE and was causing it to wobble like crazy.

3 hours later and headed home with no problems.

I got stuck in a mud pit in my old WJ. Ended up calling a tow truck, because my buddy's Taco couldn't pull me out, and got winched out by my tie rod. Obviously this caused my tie rod to bend but after installing a new one, I got terrible DW. Ended up fixing it but after that ordeal I have no plans for "mudding".

Plus the clean up is atrocious.

Now all I have to do is order some D-Ring shackles.

Does anyone have recommendations on D-Rings? Makes? My gut feeling is to go with Warn but I want to make sure 100% that i'm getting good quality parts.

Finally had some time last night to work on the Jeep a little:

Did the hood heat shield delete. Never understood why some JKs came with it and others didn't. Also a major mud magnet.

Then I worked on some DIY diff breathers. HOLY HELL THIS WAS HARD. The whole job took about 2 1/2 hours considering I didn't have jack stand or some other way to get some more lift to work. I did the front and rear diffs and routed the new hoses to the top of the engine bays in the corner. I was going to run a T section with the trans and transfer case but there was no real way for me to get the hoses disconnected. I just left them, I really don't think that they will be serious danger.

Had to get creative to thread the breather up to the top of the bay. Took another hose, threaded it down and taped the two together and pull it up.

After 2 1/2 hours of getting dried up mud in my eyes, i'm pretty happy. I will probably get a pressure washer today and clean the frame from the remaining mud.

I wanted to rep the forum in some way. The content on it is absolutely superb.

Capt. Texas, for "D" shackles and such you can check out Tulsa Chain on the web, they supply crane and heavy equipment people, and have the light stuff all the way to the "you anit gona break it in a million years tuff"

Ordered some rugged ridge 3/4 D-rings last night in red. I wanted red so that they would be visible in contrast to the back AEV bumpers.

So I have recently come across some Jeep cash and I am trying to figure out what mods will get me the best bang for buck.

I am working with around 600 dollars. The reasonable person in me is thinking about finally getting a Cobra 75 CB setup, AEV front skid plate, and a few other cosmetic things like a grill mesh.

The boy racer in me is wanting an American thunder exhaust... because Merica...

Anyone have thoughts to share? I am even thinking about buying some Rubicon wheels right now for cheap and when I need new tires, put some KO2s on the rubicons and sell the sahara wheels.

I think the 3.6 motor sounds horrible with an exhaust, so I would put the money towards the other mods. Skid plate and tires will get a lot more use than anything else on that list IMO.
