Capturing the "Big Empty"

I'm not a genuine overlander (we're almost never away from pavement for more than a week at a time), but we really like to boondock in remote places. Whenever we do, I take a photo that captures that "back of beyond" feeling. I always try to include my trailer in the shot (to provide a sense of scale), preferably from as far away as possible, like this:

Not too far -- south and east of Valley of the Gods, along the San Juan River. There are rough dirt roads that follow the top of the plateau, overlooking the river. This was in late October -- cold, breezy, silent, and alone. Perfect. Unbelievable stars -- the Milky Way looked like a braided diamond necklace.
