The Kurgo brand harnesses and tethers (to attach to seatbelt receptacle) are independently crash tested. The tether will not only keep the dog from becoming a projectile in a crash but will keep them from running away, too. Not affiliated, just a happy customer.

Dang it that thing is perfect, but getting something that pricey- for a truck with 200K on the odometer feels irresponsible

Don't know, his odometer was busted when I found him by the freeway, and we're still waiting on the info from his last tune up
