I just stuck a full one to keep as a spare inside my camp kitchen box last night but maybe I should re-think that.

I hate those red Coleman funnels. ^^^ They never seem to work right and I spill fuel with them.
I carry a MSR bottle and a small funnel. Just leave the bottle and funnel outside after use and any fuel residue volatilizes; no mess, no odors, no big deal. As long as the seal on your fuel bottle is in good shape I've never had an issue with an MSR bottle and I'm still using ones from the eighties (with new seals). YMMV depending on your level of paranoia.

Since I have an MSR whisperlite that uses these as it's gas tank I just got 2 of these, the one that came stock and a larger one. I always toss the larger in with the kitchen gear when I do a long trip with the Coleman just in case but I have NEVER needed it. I don't know what it is about Coleman white gas but that stuff has a very slow burn rate. I top off the tank before each trip but the 1 gallon can I bought 3 years ago is barely half empty.
As for the larger aluminum gas flask I got it's an off brand one. Just don't get the ones made for water, other than that these things have been around since before MSR. MSR didn't do anything special with theirs and the threads are even the same as the old ones. My parents still have one they used for backpacking with their Svea stove before I was born. It's dinged and scratched but as effective as it was the day it was bought.

The only thing that's new is people using them for drinking bottles. Do they realize aluminum is an excellent heat conductor to warm up your icy cold drink, or cool off your steaming hot beverage?

+1 to the Trangia bottle; they also benefit from as soon as you let go of the spring loaded button the fuel supply shuts off.
I use Shellite as an easy available alternative to Coleman fuel here in Aus; even Coleman Australia brand the Coleman Fuel as Shellite...
