Caulking a RAM Suction mount???

I have a RAM suction mount for my GPS. Don't get me wrong, its a great mount, but I have issues with it actually staying on for long periods of time. I have noticed that changes in altitude, and temperature swings cause it to fall off the window. :smilies27 I'm sure living in Phoenix doesn't help.

So as a solution I am thinking of using some clear caulk to "mount" it to the windshield. I am thinking that caulk would be easy enough to pick off in the event of a windscreen replacement, and hopefully just strong enough hold the puppy on the window. Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts?

Here's a pic... just because I love pictures... and this picture that Jeffery Scott took is cool!

I used to have some issues with mine falling off. If you stick it on when its cold, as the air left inside the suction cup expands, itll lose its grip.

I waited till the hottest part of the day, lathered it up with a good dollup of saliva and it hasnt fallen off again. Probably going on 4 months.

That being said, I dont see why some clear silicone wouldnt hold it up there. Plenty easy to get the silicone off when and if the time comes.

Cleaning the window spot and sucker to remove all grease with isopropylic alcohol prior to use also helps.

Then grease free saliva...ie not with a mouth full of chips
