Central/Hill Country Texas Trip

Adventurering
Racked up 934.8 miles on our trip. Got to see the following :

Colonial Capital of Texas at San Felipe
Enchanted Rock
Fredericksburg : Main St
Kerrville : The Empty Cross
Luckenbach Dance Hall (Johnny Cash Birthday Celebration)
Boerne : The Cave With No Name
Ellinger : Hruska's Bakery
Fredericksburg : Wheeler's Restaurant
Kerrville : WagonMasters
Fredericksburg : Fort Martin Scott
and miles upon miles of Texas Hill Country

This was a very very amazing trip/getaway from the normal hustle of the city. Didn't camp but stayed at the KOA Kabins, which just made the experience much more memorable. We will update this post later as we get around to editing pictures.

were you staying at the KOA in Fredricksburg? My wife and I were there last weekend for a valentines weekend getaway. we were staying at a little B&B cottage in town..

This sounds great. I wish I knew about your trip before you made it. Could have given you the name of a book to buy to have more fun on your trip.

A book written by a biker who is very active on bike forums. He has a book out which maps out ALL the back roads that bikers use to tour and enjoy the sites and sounds of the Hill Country. The book costs I think about $22. I bought one from him. I cannot wait to take a trip and use the book. Just time has been preventing me from doing that. But it sure looks like a good book. Miles and miles of unpaved roads that bikers use.

I can updated you with more info, if interested in just seeing it for yourself. Besides, I see you live in Beaumont. I live in Houston.

Looking forward to seeing your pics on here.

I'm very interested in this book as well! Where can I find it?

What's the best map or website to find backroad routes? I'm going to be driving from SA to vanerpool and would like to take some dirt roads part of the way but am having trouble planning it out with my current maps
