Does anyone have any leads on a gearbox to suit a 1993 NPS?
4BD1T engine.
After months of preparation, set off on our first round Oz trip and are stuck in Kununurra with a cracked gearbox!
The grob screw that holds in the reverse idler shaft apparently came loose, and the idler shaft was thrown against the inside of the casing, cracking it.
A replacement gearbox seems to be the only option here I think. Welding the casing would only be a temporary fix, and there are bits of metal throughout the gearbox. That grub screw is missing too.
The only reconditioned one I could find is going to cost us $4700 + freight two ways, + fitting. And we will be without our home for 2 weeks waiting.
All part of life on the road I suppose! But any help greatly appreciated.
