Pre-1996 need not apply, no application listings. Might be able to figure out by model similarity, I dunno.

A high quality $4 hidden switch in the injector or ECU ground circuit would do the same thing.

The guy that really wants it will winch it onto his flatbed and haul it away. If said flatbed looks the part of a real tow truck, then even if an alarm is going off no one will pay it much attention.

Something along this vein is one part of my security system... There's visual deterrents and non-visual ones. Like you say, just towing the whole thing away is hard to defeat.

Another option is the Hella Battery Switch. Removing the key means that everything is dead. (also means that any battery dependent memory is lost too, so a fused, low current by-pass might be a good idea.)

EDIT: Page linked also has a link to a similar Sparco switch.

:iagree:

locks and alarms are only good for keeping the honest people honest, at least if it has no power a theif might move on to an easier target. Could also invest in one of those "dummy" flashing red LED's as a visual deterent. if somenone really wants it, you'll be walking home.

Although they do take vehicle security pretty seriously in South Africa

I don't think I'd ever use one: by the time the thief realizes he can't start your car, he's already smashed the window and steering column. No alarm siren means he'll keep smashing things, trying to get it to start. On his way out he'll take anything of value that isn't bolted down anyway.

Other than that, I guess it can't hurt. . .
