Checking around Ebay for some good cars for a road trip, but a car i even cant live and sleep in.

Chev Express sounds great, im from Sweden, maybe will be great to drive a american van.

I think its a popular van overthere and many of them are out on the roads.
What you think about this model to make a camper van of?

Maybe i can buy one for a road trip in the states and after that ship it over to Gothenburg and use it here.
I think a Chevy Express Van for me, age around 10 years old so today model 2006.

I think buying a big ol' van and tooling around the US is a great idea.

The "Big 3" US automakers all have (had) full size vans.

Ford Econoline
Chevrolet Express
Dodge Ram Van (discontinued 2004 for the Sprinter)

Where are you looking to buy a vehicle? Since the US is such a big place, it is key to get one from an area that is good for vehicles (i.e. not where there is a lot of snow because of salt on the roads, or near the ocean because of salt spray) Getting a good condition vehicle at whatever your budget will be is probably much more important than whether it is a Chevy or a Ford, tbh.

Be prepared that a US fullsize van will get horrifically low gas mileage by European standards. You may want to resell it in the US at the end of your travels rather than bring it home.

I think i will find a Chev Express in good condition and take it for a road trip.
But you think the fuel are mush sheaper overthere so better to rent or buy and sale the van and go home without it?

Yeah, I'm not saying not buy one - I think that is a good plan. Just maybe when you are done with it sell it on to someone else instead of shipping it back with you. You will just need to look at the economics of fuel cost v. mileage - what works in the US may not work for you at home.

Head over to the sportsmobile forum and check out accrete's express build. They have done an amazing job on it. I'm sure he will answer any questions you have also.

Yep, good van. Pop the top for more room. I've had one and I've also got a 4wd sprinter. Unlike the Sprinter van the Chevy express has a full frame under it. Can't go wrong with that.

A Chevrolet Express would be a great vehicle for an American road trip. The gas mileage is fairly poor if compared to a (much smaller) VW van, but is comparable to similarly sized vehicles from other manufacturers. Parts are cheap and readily available. Mechanics in America will be very familiar with them, so it will be easy to work on. They are also common work vehicles here, and tend to go unnoticed. That will make it easier to do "stealth camping" and will reduce the chance of any contact with either criminals or police.
