Chevy 2500HD Truck Canopy Camper Setup

Thought i'd share a little video of my Truck Camping setup in my 2017 Chevy 2500HD truck. I prefer a non-permanent setup so I can use the truck for truck stuff, but there might be some good ideas others might find with the setup. I've probably camped in this setup about 30 nights over the past year.

Thanks for the tour.

Wow, eeriely similar to my setup. Yes, I also have to be modular since I use the truck as a truck. 2002 2500HD longbed with a Leer 122 hi-rise, also using a Roll-a-Cot. I can sit straight up...barely. I have a camper plug in the bed so I chose to use an ArkPak to power my fridge and charge small electronics. Solar is going to be used in the near future. I had the BedRug in my Dodge ? but they don’t offer one for the Chevy longbed ?. The desert trails/roads I mostly travel require that everything be secured. I use an aluminum bed box at the front of the bed to store many items, others are secured with tie downs.

I imagine there are quite a few of us out there driving dual purpose rigs; it would be great to see some more examples. I’d include a pic of mine but right now it’s full of hay and horse corral bedding. ? Thanks again!

Yeah, I kinda miss the long-bed on my older F350...but this thing is SO much nicer to drive, especially in the city. I carry a Yeti in the backseat, and have been thinking of getting a Fridge, but haven't wanted to spend the dough. Same with Solar, keeping it simple for now.

The biggest issue I have with my setup in the desert is controlling the dust. I did add a truck bed seal kit and it helped, but those dust roads still find their way to get into the back. I usually pack the sleeping bag in the cab if it looks like a dusty issue, and hope for the best!

Thanks for sharing.
