Alright, just picked up my '24 Colorado Trail Boss on Monday.
Plans are to install a Topo Toppers Mesa camper canopy. I'll be building it out as an overlander without going too wild (I don't wheel hard, I just want to access some cool places and drag my bike along with me).
Does anybody have any experience with a canopy camper on this year of truck - specifically I'm interested in whether the added weight meant it needed leveling in the back, ie AAL, and if so what parts have people used?

My guess is you will not have to do any suspension upgrades, The Mesa 2 in a short bed configuration is right at ~250lbs. From your post sounds like your build will be light. I have the Canyon 4 x 4 and adding the same topper as yourself in two weeks. I have towed a Travel trailer with 350lbs on the tongue and saw little droop. That said my vehicle will be dedicated for my camping adventures only. My build will be light as well. We will see...
There is a little squat in the back with the camper loaded up I’ve noticed, and I’m pretty sure I felt it hit the bump stops a few times on the way home. I got the Deaver AAL coming just in case. I do plan to add some extra weight with an awning, and the cabinet build probably won’t be light either (probably ~150-200lbs), but I’ll see how it goes. I’m thinking there’s going to be around 400-500lbs back there at all times.

I added a GFC to my Colorado a couple of weeks ago and took it out for a night of camping last weekend. The GFC really lives up to the hype in my opinion, it made set-up and taken-down of camp soooo much easier and I slept great in the camper. I don't have any plans to turn it into a mini-RV or anything like that as I don't need the added weight and the truck is my daily driver. If I do anything it will only be adding solar panel(s) to the roof to power my fridge.

I've got a wedge camper (Super Pacific X1) on my AT4X. I would recommend add a leaf to the back with the weight. It was a stiff ride without the X1, feels like stock with the X1.

Electrics: Lensun hood solar for starter battery, Upgraded wiring for 3 105ah Lithium batteries to run to camper, installation of Redarc TVMS 1280 (prime), Sunflare Xplor 175watt flexible panel on Family Tent, 2,000watt Inverter, RedVision screens, multiple interior lights red/white, multiple usb A and usb C ports, multiple DC outlets.
Canopy: Replaced RLD Canopy, with Alu-cab ModCap, Goose-Gear v2 (wood) buildout with plate, two rear drawer modules, two front utility cabinets and lower bulkhead door. Every molle panel available inside (windows, side panels, water tank) and outside, sides and rear. 13 gallon water tank with Joolca propane water heater and 12v pump, Dickson propane fireplace. Propane run to water heater, fireplace and exterior hookup. Passive water spout on exterior. Spare tire on rear door. Alu-Cab Family Tent, Alu-cab Shadow Awn with walls. Screens and fabric doors for all cabin openings.

We hit the pause button on our 23' ZR2. Random electrical gremlins that dealer has no answer to.
Had the software update on the AEBS but it still randomly locks up the brakes and settings turn on and off by themselves. Love the truck, hate the issues.
No more GM vehicles for us. Hope others have better luck. No longer worth the price of admission for us.
