Chevy Tornado....the new overlander!

Just did the PCH from San Francisco to San Diego and saw a couple of these around California...Chevy Tornado. Must be something from South of the border versus a new NA mini truck?.?.

I looked it up on Wikipedia, because, well, why not. Turns out is is based on the Chevrolet/Opel/Vauxhall Corsa C, is front wheel drive and sold in other countries as the Chevrolet Montana.

It does look a bit weird to me - especially with that stance. But maybe if loaded up, it is more horizontal?

I don't quite get the big hole in the side? It's not as if this is a super fast car needing enormous cooling to the brakes. Is it to prevent lift at speed due to some unforeseen side effect of cutting down a Vauxhall/Opel Corsa and make into a pickup? What is the purpose of that?

The big hole is a step so you can reach into the bed easier. Those thing are running around all over south texas with mexican plates.
