Chrysler pondering diesel for U.S. Jeep Compass/Patriot and replacement

Autoblog is reporting this and has made mention of what the Euro version of the Patriot and Compass are getting this year... 2.0 liter Mercedes diesel returning 43 mpg.

Now that is one way to boost CAFE averages... come on Chrysler. I would buy one of these as a daily driver with mileage like that and a bit of offroad capability to boot!

Yeah, I finally got sick of waiting and I'm picking up a 2010 JK Unlimited. I figure I'll trade it in on a new Rubi if they ever get around to putting the diesel in the JK.
