I have a lot of spidering and cracking on the clear coat of my 1995 Land Cruiser...Black in color and it really shows...was going to have just the roof and hood recleared but will it be blatent that the rest of the truck is now dull...Thinking I should just have the whole truck done...
Any thoughts from someone in the know.
Thanks
Matt

This turns into a "while we're at it"
Everywhere that needs clear needs to be sanded down, if you go through the paint anywhere then it needs paint there too. If the paint is faded the new color wont match exactly, sometimes they dont anyway. So getting the whole thing repainted becomes the next choice. Then while your at it, you might as well do any body work needed. so... Probably $1500-$2000 minimum from a good shop. More for major body work or projects like pulling the headliner to fill in the holes from the roof rack. For really good job, the roof rack needs to be pulled anyway.

If you can post some pics, it would be easier to visualize. Depending on how your truck looks now and what your future plans for it are, a very good alternative might be Line-X. Seriously. I saw a red 60 with white line-x'd roof that looked great. Different colors have issues in different areas, but if it's your flares and roof, then I would be tempted to line-x the fenders black (I've seen silver too) and the roof white or silver (heat refection) and have an everlasting and great looking finish.

as stated above this is gona cost you a hell of a lot of money. i work at a bodyshop and we would charge around $5000 to repaint your whole truck. re-clearing is basically the same amount of work as repainting. add bodywork to that and you could be up around 7 grand. imagine all the mods you could do with that money.....:smiley_drive:

i would go the linex route if i were you.

There has to be other companies offering similar services out there as well.
