Thanks. I’d say there’s a 95% chance I’ll be adding another one to the driverside but I have run out of time as I leave for Moab on Sunday morning and work tonight and Saturday night
So lots has happened since my last post. Had a great trip down to Moab, Denver, beauna Vista, Moab. Went down from Edmonton with my cousin as my wife could only get 1 week off.
The ice built up like crazy between Calgary and the Babb border crossing. Continued for an hour south as the temperature hovered just below freezing with wet/slushy road conditions.
Continued the first day through to Idaho with the first real stop being the Wal-Mart in Idaho falls. There I picked up a couple of Ozark Trail Roto-molded coolers as we can’t get these in Canada and wanted to give them a try. On top of that we also stocked with food, beer, ice and wood. From there we continued to a free campground called Goodenough Creek Campground
Although it turns out the didn’t open for another 3 weeks as it was already dark we set up the tent in the parking lot and had a fire in the nearest campsite ring.
Day 2 we got up early, hit the flying j truck-stop for fuel, coffee and some Cinnamon buns then made our way to Salt Lake City. There we stopped at the Landcruiser Heritage Mussem which was very cool. I’m terrible with names but the guy who runs it was very nice and helpful even with suggestions on trails for Moab.
After that I washed the truck then headed to check out the huge Cabela’s south of SLC. It was pretty neat to see Sturgeon in an aquarium
Ate some lunch at a R&R BBQ restaurant which was very good then headed to Moab.
First night we stayed in a nice campsite North West of town in a beautiful Canyon.

Day 3 we headed for Hells Revenge. The Tundra handled amazing. Didn’t do the”Hard” lines as I was by myself and loaded for full expedition/ camping. Even as is the people I met on the trail who were all in heavily modified jeeps and sxs’s were amazed I was up there.
The new rear suspension really helped on this trail by providing a huge amount of flex thanks to Archive Garage and Deaver
After that we continued down Sand Flats road and found an epic camp site.

One of the nicest places I’ve ever camped until about 9:30pm when the wind picked up and sent us to bed but still well worth it.

Day 4 we headed for Chicken Corners. Makes for a nice drive. Not too technical but scenic. We were hoping to find somewhere to camp along the way. We found one off the trail between Hurrahs pass and Chicken Corners but the wind had picked up significantly by then so we continued back towards town.
Ended up staying in the same valley as our first night in Moab where there was a little cover from the wind.

Day 5-6 had extreme wind warnings if sustained 40 mph winds with gusts above 60 mph so decided to head for Colorado in hopes of out running the wind and on day 7 my cousin was catching a plane home from Denver and my wife was flying into Denver to join me the same day. Before leaving Moab we checked out Gemini Bridges.
. The trail along Gemini Bridges is very easy and can be navigated by any suv and even cars with proper lines. Stopped at Moab Giants for lunch which was over priced and not very good, I wouldn’t go again but it was on the way.
That night we stayed in a hotel in Grand Junction.
My front diff had been making some noise while in 4wd under hard turning so decided to change the oil in the parking lot. After inspecting the oil it seemed there was a fair amount of fillings so I was happy to have changed it but now was cautious of the reliability of the 4wd from this point.
Had a great night of partying with locals and headed for Denver the next day.
The drive up I70 is beautiful but as we got up to the Summit there was a snow storm which made the drive quite white knuckled as the truck weighs in around 7000lbs on BFGOODRICH Mudterrain KM2’s which are great on trail and dry but terrible imho on snow/ice. Made it unscathed and spent another night in a hotel in Denver with an exciting night on the town.
